I moved out of my parents' house almost two years ago. For the first time in my life, I was faced with the task of moving all of my earthly goods. It was not too challenging because I'm not much of a pack-rat except when it comes to notebooks. I had an entire box in my closet devoted to notebooks - diaries, sketch-pads, notes from school. What was I going to do with all of them? I didn't have room for them in my new place so I couldn't take them with me. At the same time, I couldn't leave them at my parents' house and risk getting them thrown out.

Marie, I adored your post. I loved the symbolism you wrote about and I can definitely relate. I have so many notebooks gathered from over the years with empty pages and I hate to waste them. Most of the time I end up throwing away notebooks that still are filled halfway with emptiness. It makes me think that maybe we don't write enough. I know that I have bought notebooks for some classes and I only filled a few pages over the semester due to the lack of writing and notetaking. Notebooks should be filled. That is what they are made for. It motivates me to write more and more. We can never write too much.

Love this...I prefer paper over plastic most days for reading and writing. I love the symbolism here. I still have some of my papers from long ago and there were journals that I wish I had kept. I use a composition book and I fill one about every 3 months.
